I (Shira Service) am a psychologist (in training), a multidisciplinary creative, a researcher, educator, strategist, and project developer. I am a doctoral student in Media Psychology (i.e., Psychology with an Emphasis in Media & Technology) at Fielding Graduate University (Fielding). I earned my BFA from Cooper Union (New York City) in 2014, my Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Psychology from Fielding in 2021, my M.A. in Media Psych from Fielding in 2026, and received the Provost Achievement Scholarship from Fielding in 2025 for my doctoral studies.

I have been a research collaborator in Dr. Regina Tuma’s Psychology of AI and Data Technologies Lab for over a year (or nearing that?), and was a Research Assistant in Dr. Kristine Jacquin’s Forensic Psychology and Neuropsychology Research Lab (post-bacc) four ~4 years. Current research covers several topics: the psychology of privacy and data; social representations of emerging technologies; ambiguity in hiring processes; and, bottom-up attentional capture in virtual art exhibitions. My research and theoretical interests span domains of cognitive science, art, clinical psychology, neuroscience, technology, and law—- landing in the domain of the psychological.

Currently based in Dallas, my career has brought a breadth of experience in art, media, teaching, research, mental health services, technology, and entrepreneurship. I have lived and worked in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Asheville, and Beijing. I was awarded the Robert Breer Film Award from Cooper Union in 2014, and the Point-of-View Curator Award from ArtsAVL (previously the Asheville Area Arts Council) in 2016.
